Description

1992 de Havilland Gipsy Moth Aviation $20 Coin (#1-6)

Originally from Great Britian, the de Havilland Moth, a light two-seat aircraft, became the standard equipment of most flying clubs of the world in the 1920's. Its success soon led to the establishment of the de Havilland subsidiaries in Canada and Austraila.

In the early thirties, the Moth aircraft, renowned for its long distanceperformance and reliablitiy became a familiar sight across Canada as a Flying Club aircraft, and was subsequently used for varied purposes such as training R.C.A.F. pilots, bush flying, as well as exploration and pleasure flights.
