Description

DESCRIPTION

This historic settlement at Ile Sainte-Croix shaped the course of the New World, and on its 400th anniversary, commemorative events were planned on both sides of the Atlantic. France had issued its own commemorative coin and stamp, and they joined their Canadian counterparts to create an exclusive set with unprecedented international flair.

Produced in collaboration with Canada Post, La Monnaie de Paris, and La Poste (France), this exclusive set includes two silver coins and four commemorative postage stamps (two mint condition and two cancelled), with a serialized certificate included.

Canadian Pure Silver Dollar Coin
This coin depicts a 17th-century ship and Champlain's drawing of the island settlement with a fleur de lis privy mark that makes the Canadian coin unique. The obverse features a portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

French Silver 1/4 Euro
This coin depicts the navigation style in that period of time, and the obverse features the portrait of Samuel de Champlain.
