The Perth Mint released the second coin in the orbital and beyond coin series. This coin pays tribute to the first man into space - The soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin.
Yuri became a national hero by becoming the first human in space and the first to orbit the earth on 12th April 1961.
The coins design portrays a montage of images symbolising Yuri's epic journey. Blasting off from Baikonurin soviet central Asia, he completed a single orbit of the Earth in 108 minutes before re entering the atmosphere and parachuting back to the Soviet Union.
