DESIGN: 

This half-ounce coin is certified to be 99.99% pure silver with a diameter of 34 millimetres and a metal  weight of 15.87 grams. The dynamic reverse design by Canadian artist Kendra Dixon presents a downhill skier hurtling down a steep mountainside packed with perfect powder. In the lower left foreground, we see the  well-appointed skier, poles extended in both directions, carefully carving a billowing path in the untouched snow. In the background, the snow-covered tops of coniferous trees emphasize the extreme height and winter beauty of the experience of skiing in the Canadian Rockies. Royal Canadian Mint engravers have carefully used a variety of finishes and engraving techniques to capture the tonal depth of the original watercolour.
