Cast in sterling silver (92.5% pure), the jewellery-like goldfinch and flower are both plated with yellow gold that alludes to their natural colouring, and evokes the warm glow of summer sunshine.
Engraved realism
Adding to this delicate and dynamic design, the leaves of the engraved sunflowers are dotted with raindrops that individually reflect the light.
Dome capsule
As with previous movement coins, this 2025 edition rests on an elegant wooden base and is fully enclosed by a protective dome that provides a clear view of the coin’s remarkable features.

Designed by RCM Engraver Ryan Poser, the coin’s reverse captures the light and colours of a summer day in an open field, where sunflower (g. Helianthus) blooms tower above leaves dotted with raindrops. The 3D flower at the centre has attracted the attention of a seed-eating American goldfinch (Spinus tristis); both are cast in sterling silver and plated with yellow gold, and when the coin is tipped, the motion causes the goldfinch to circle the bloom. The obverse features the effigy of His Majesty King Charles III by Canadian artist Steven Rosati.
