The Blue Flag Iris opens to the morning sun, dotted with glittering Swarovski crystal dewdrops are featured in this popular Royal Canadian Mint series of fine silver coins.
This $20 Fine Silver Coin contains 99.99% fine silver with a metal weight of 31.39 grams and a diameter of 38 millimetres. This fourth coin in the wildflower series features a stunning reverse image by Canadian artist Celia Godkin. The image centres around the open blossom of a beautiful Blue Flag Iris. The soft mauve-blue inner petals of this Iris versicolor specimen reach skyward, while its intricately patterned outer petals bow gracefully toward the ground. Each of the three visible sepals, dark-veined indigo at their outer edges with a feathery pattern of soft blue where they meet the petals, is dotted with a sparkling Swarovski crystal 'dew drop' element. The bloom sits atop its bright green stem, a closed bud poised just beneath it.
The reverse features the word 'CANADA,' the date '2013,' and the face value of '20 DOLLARS.' The obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.
