1996 Proof Set
Beginning in 1996, the five cent, ten cent, twenty-five cent and fifty cent coins were struck in sterling silver. All other specifications remain the same as the older Prestige/Proof sets. John McIntosh arrived in Canada in 1796 and settled in Ontario. Issued to pay tribute to the originator of Canada's most important commercial apple.
