This original design by First Nations Kwakwaka’wakw and Tlingit artist Corrine Hunt unites a loon, a salmon and a canoe in a promise of life and travel across this great land. The glimmering salmon hologram immediately captures the eye, while the distinctive profile of the loon dominates the centre of the coin, wrapped between the salmon and the canoe that curves along the lower portion of the coin. In the background, water and trees complete the scene.
