DESIGN
This coin offers an engraved recreation of Tom Thomson’s landscape paintings: a one-ounce 99.99% fine silver coin featuring Spring Ice (1916). These smaller-scale renditions boast an astonishing amount of detail. Precision engraving masterfully recreates every brushstroke from the original canvases, with beautiful detailing and raised elements that recapture the depth and subtleties of Thomson’s work: the crispness of a spring day in the wilderness lends itself well to the silver coin, with leafless trees set against the open water that still carries some icy evidence of winter on its surface.
