DESCRIPTION
The red maple (Acer rubrum) is one of the 10 Canadian maple species that collectively represent this nation, and its irregularly toothed leaf — one of the first of its kind to change colours each fall — is a sight to behold on the five coins that form this fractional set from the Royal Canadian Mint.
From the large 1 oz. coin to the tiny 1/20 oz. piece, each coin’s reverse features the same intricate portrait of an Acer rubrum twig and in is enhanced with selective gold plating, which mimics the warm, luminous glow of autumn sunshine.
